Understanding Guidance and Counseling

UNDERSTANDING GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

Under article 27 of Government Regulation No. 29/90, quoted in the book Guidelines Guidance and Counseling in 1994 that the Guidance is the help given to students in an effort to find a private, personal, familiar environment, and planning for the future (Guidance in order to find the person intended so that learners know their own strengths and weaknesses diei, and received it in a positive and dynamic as the capital further self-development. Guidance in order to know the environment is so that students know the objective environment, social environment and physical environment, and receive a variety of environmental conditions that in a positive and dynamic as well. The introduction of the neighborhood that includes the home environment, school environment, community environment and natural surroundings, as well as "wider environment". It is expected to support the process of adjustment of students with the environment in question, and can be utilized as much as possible to self-development is steady and sustainable. As guidance in order to plan for the future is so that learners are able to consider and make decisions about the future of ourselves, both concerning education, career field, as well as areas of cultural / family / community.

According to author Tim Guidebook Implementation Guidance and Counselling Service (2004) that the Guidance and Counselling is a process of psychological and humanitarian assistance scientifically and professionally provided by a supervisor to being mentored (learners) so that he can develop optimally, that is able to understand ourselves, self-directed, and self-actualization, seduai with the development, nature, potential, and walks of life and its environment in order to reach happiness in life.

Meanwhile, according to the compilers of the book Team Guide Service Competency Based Guidance and Counseling (2002) gives the constraint that Guidance and Counselling is a support services to learners, either individually or in groups, to be independent and develop optimally, in personal guidance, social guidance, tutoring , and career guidance, through various types and supporting activities based on the norms that apply (so that the sense this team can be concluded the following things: 1). Guidance and counseling are support services, 2). Guidance and counseling services through individual and group activities, 3). Direction guidance and counseling activities is to help learners to be able to perform daily living independently and develop optimally, 4). There are four areas of guidance, ie personal guidance; social learning, and careers, 5). Guidance and counseling services performed by certain types of services, supported by a number of supporting activities, 6). Guidance and counseling services should be based on the prevailing norms
